Local Attractions
There is plenty to do and see in Ballina.
There’s something for everyone here in Ballina and the nearby towns of Byron Bay and Lennox Head. For the sporty types there’s swimming, surfing, kayaking, diving, cycling, horse riding, golf, and bowling. For the more adventurous, perhaps hot-air ballooning, sky-diving, or a scenic helicopter tour would suit. For a more relaxing time one can lounge on the beach, take a river cruise, whale-watch, go fishing, bush-walking, head to the cinema, or simply enjoy wining & dining the night away.
For the artistically-inclined there are a myriad of local artisans practising contemporary glasswork, ceramics, bronze fine art, and painting. It is worth visiting the Lismore Regional Gallery, the Northern Rivers Community Gallery, and the Creative Artisans Gallery.
There are plenty of op-shops to explore, as well as a local beer distillery, coffee plantation, macadamia farm, and the Ballina Farmers Market. Other places of interest include the Macadamia Castle, The Farm, Byron Bay Lighthouse, and the Ballina Naval & Maritime Museum, home to a stunning collection of history and memorabilia.
